I’ve been annoying this forum for about 10 years now, SORRY! Usually I post about lunch but lately have been whining about my dog dying. You see, life isn’t all that easy on me and when I lost my dog I just kind of flipped. Anyhow, my last dog was a pit bull mix from the shelter and was just perfect. I tried to do that again but it wasn’t working out for me. I think the adult dogs were just too close to my last dog. On a whim I applied to adopt a puppy from a bunch that were saved from a fighting ring. I LOVE HIM. He’s not a pit bull, we think he’s a blue heeler/pointer. Feel free to state your opinions. Say hello to my new dude! Name is still in the making, dog day care funds are being researched.

You saved a dog, and you’ve done good. We got 2 cats from the NY Feral Cat program, and they add to our lives in countless ways.

I don’t really totally feel like I saved him because he’s a puppy in rich guy San Diego (they flew these puppies in from another state ) so he’d probably get adopted from someone else. However I tried my best to take home adult pits and I have visted shelters on an almost daily basis but all the adult dogs I wanted either were adopted quickly or were too people fearful for what I needed. AND every single one of them reminded me of my beloved passed dog. Having a puppy is a new experience for me and it doesn’t feel anything like my last dog. The training and socialization is going to be expensive tho .

So cute! Just be ready for a ton of work, I got my dog as a puppy (too young if I’m honest) and I definitely don’t feel like I did the best job, in the future I think I’ll stick to older rescues. But I totally get why you went that route, it’s a nice way to move forward without directly replacing what can never be replaced.

Kudos! Our idiot neighbours abandoned their house when the bank went to foreclose on it and kicked out 6 house cats. We managed to trap and rehome them as barn cats, but they’d been out for a year in the wild and had gone feral, so couldn’t easily be tamed again. One had kittens and that is were our cat came from....I lo
ve her to death. :)

As I have said many times here - you do whatever you can for them, you keep them safe, you keep them healthy. That’s what anyone would do.
